Adaptive
The
adaptive program at Piers Park encompasses four different realms.
For
adults:
The Learn to Sail (LTS) program is taught to the same standards
by which we teach adult able-bodied sailors. Our US SAILING basic
keelboat curriculum is taught by instructors that have been trained
to use the adaptive equipment best suited to your needs. Click
here to
read more about the adaptive learn to sail program.
For
adult membership:
Membership is available after completion of the Learn to Sail program
OR If you have a disability and already know how
to sail proficiently you
may
take
a skills
evaluation.
We
will
evaluate
your need
for a companion sailor
and you will have the same membership price and privileges as our
adult members. Click here to
read more.
For
children:
There are two youth programs, adaptive equipment is provided to those
with physical challenges and adaptive instruction is tailored to
children
with cognitive challenges:
Summer Youth Sailing (SYS) program: for children
ages 10-17, students will be integrated into the program with their
same-age
peers to learn basic sailing skills.
The
Harbor Explorer program: for children ages 7-14, students
will be integrated into the program with their same-age peers to
learn about harbor ecology.

programs.
For
